Home-based Ghanaian carrier, Africa World Airlines (AWA), was awarded the humanitarian mission to repatriate a group of Ghanaians stranded abroad due to the current closure of national borders.

Commercial air travel has been immensely affected due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. A lot of countries have put several restrictions including the closure of their borders to contain and eradicate the spread of the virus.

With special permissions from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority and other agencies, AWA operated a flight from Monrovia, chartered by K-NET Limited to repatriate their Ghanaian employees from Liberia.

According to AWA, its professional crew ensured that the highest safety standards were maintained at all times. The passengers transported back to Ghana have all been placed into mandatory quarantine by the health authorities.

Africa World Airlines (AWA) is a proud Ghanaian company, offering more flights to, from and within Ghana than any other airline. “Ghanaians are urged to continue to observe the Government recommendations on social distancing, to ensure that we keep our nation great and strong. God bless our homeland Ghana”.
