Dublin Airport welcomes 20 million passengers in just first eight months of the year

Dublin Airport has welcomed a whopping 20 million passengers in the first eight months of the year – an increase of 6%.

Almost 3.1 million passed through the gates in August, meaning the airport hit over three million passengers for the second consecutive month.

 

And the total number of people travelling through the capital increased by 7% last month, making it the busiest August in the airport’s 77-year history.

The number of people travelling to and from continental Europe jumped by 7% to 1.6 million, while the number going to the USA rose by 21% to 409,000.

Fight numbers to international destinations rose by 14% to 95,000, while domestic flights dropped by 1% to 10,000.

The number of passengers using Dublin Airport as a hub to connect to another destination increased by 42% in the first eight months of the year, with more than one million passengers transferring at Dublin so far this year.
